Classic sailing yacht WIKI has left the Principality to begin a three-year centennial expedition led by filmmaker and Yacht Club de Monaco member Tom Woods.
The Yacht Club de Monaco bid farewell this week to WIKI, a century-old sailing yacht embarking on one of the more ambitious voyages to depart the Principality in recent years. Filmmaker and club member Tom Woods is leading the "Wiki's Centennial Expedition", a three-year journey covering more than 40,000 kilometres across the Mediterranean.
The expedition combines scientific research, education and environmental advocacy — three causes that sit close to the heart of Monaco's maritime community, given the Principality's long-standing commitment to ocean protection through bodies such as the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. For Woods, the centennial voyage marks both a personal milestone and a platform to raise awareness of pressing environmental issues along one of the world's most ecologically significant coastlines.
WIKI's departure adds to a tradition of meaningful ocean missions that have set out from Monaco's harbour, reinforcing the Principality's reputation not just as a base for luxury yachting, but as a genuine hub for serious seamanship and marine stewardship.
