Brunner strikes again as Monaco edge past CSKA Sofia 2-1

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Paris Brunner scored once more and Ansu Fati made his first start since May as AS Monaco won 2-1 away at CSKA Sofia.

AS Monaco came away from Bulgaria on Thursday night with a 2-1 win over CSKA Sofia, a result that will please supporters watching the club's European campaign from the Rocher and beyond.

Paris Brunner was once again the difference-maker, finding the net for the second match running and continuing a scoring run that has made him one of the most closely watched young forwards in the squad this season.

The night also marked the return of Ansu Fati to the starting line-up, his first appearance from kick-off since 17 May after a calf complaint disrupted his pre-season. The Spaniard's performance was mixed overall, but he showed a clinical touch at the key moment, a sign that his fitness and sharpness are returning after a difficult few months on the sidelines.

For a club with ambitions on multiple fronts this season, having both a reliable goalscorer in Brunner and a fit-again Fati gives coach Adi Hutter more attacking options as the fixture list intensifies into the winter months.
