Brunner rescues Monaco with late equaliser at Strasbourg

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Paris Brunner came off the bench to score a solo equaliser and earn AS Monaco a point in Saturday's Ligue 1 draw at Strasbourg.

Paris Brunner produced one of the more unexpected contributions of Monaco's Ligue 1 campaign so far, pulling the side level in the second half of a hard-fought draw away at Strasbourg on Saturday afternoon. The young forward worked the goal largely on his own, beating Strasbourg's physically imposing central defensive partnership to find the net and deny the home side all three points.

The result keeps Monaco in the hunt for a top-four finish, though the performance will prompt questions in the Principality about the side's ability to break down well-organised defences. Brunner's intervention at least gave supporters travelling to Alsace something to celebrate, and his growing impact from the bench is emerging as one of the more interesting subplots of Monaco's season.
