By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

A foreign national held in Monaco on Wednesday in connection with the 29 June bombing has been released without charge after verification checks were completed.

A foreign national detained in Monaco on Wednesday morning in connection with the 29 June bombing was released without charge in the early afternoon, the prosecutor general confirmed in a formal statement. Verification checks found no grounds to hold the individual further, and the search for the suspect continues.

The prosecutor general's statement, dated Wednesday 1 July, also addressed the condition of the woman critically injured in the blast. Residents and property owners across the Principality will be watching closely as authorities press on with what has become one of the most serious public safety investigations Monaco has seen in recent years.

Further updates are expected from the prosecutor general's office as the investigation develops.
