Bomb squad called to Place d'Armes after second alert in two days

Place d'Armes and the Condamine Market were evacuated on Wednesday after an unattended bag prompted a second bomb disposal operation in Monaco in as many days.
Public Security officers cordoned off Place d'Armes shortly before midday on Wednesday 15 July after an unattended bag raised concerns, prompting a full bomb squad response and the temporary evacuation of the square and the adjacent Condamine Market.
The incident follows a near-identical alert at Place des Moulins on Tuesday 14 July, making it the second bomb disposal operation in Monaco within 24 hours. Both locations sit in La Condamine, one of the Principality's busiest residential and commercial districts, and the back-to-back evacuations will have caused significant disruption to traders and residents during the midday period.
No further details on the contents of the package or the outcome of the investigation have been confirmed at this stage. Residents and visitors in the area should expect an continued Public Security presence while enquiries are ongoing.
