Berro-Amadeï leads Monaco delegation to Kyiv amid CoE presidency

Minister of External Relations Isabelle Berro-Amadeï visited Kyiv with Permanent Representative Gabriel Revel as part of Monaco's active Council of Europe Committee of Ministers presidency.
Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Government Counsellor and Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, travelled to Kyiv this week alongside Gabriel Revel, Monaco's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, for high-level meetings with Ukrainian authorities. The visit falls within the framework of Monaco's current presidency of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers, a role that places the Principality at the centre of pan-European diplomatic activity.
The delegation's discussions in Kyiv covered several priority areas tied to Monaco's presidency agenda, with accountability mechanisms among the issues understood to be on the table. For a microstate of fewer than 40,000 residents, the presidency represents a significant moment of international visibility, and this visit signals that Monaco intends to use it actively rather than ceremonially.
Monaco assumed the rotating presidency of the Committee of Ministers earlier this year. The Council of Europe, which is distinct from the European Union and counts 46 member states, oversees human rights standards, democratic governance and the rule of law across the continent. Ukraine has been a particularly prominent item on its agenda since 2022.
