AS Monaco Athletics licence-holder Cassandre Beaugrand has withdrawn from the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham to focus on her triathlon schedule.
Cassandre Beaugrand, who holds her athletics licence with AS Monaco, has confirmed she will not compete at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The announcement on Monday 27 July ends weeks of speculation about whether the reigning Olympic triathlon champion would add a track appearance to her summer calendar.
Beaugrand had returned to competitive running this season, raising the prospect of a rare double campaign across two disciplines. Ultimately she has chosen to prioritise her triathlon programme, a decision that will come as little surprise given the demands of the sport at the highest level. The club retains one of the most decorated licence-holders in its athletics section.
