An AS Monaco water polo coach accused of harassment and violence towards a minor has had the case against him dismissed by prosecutors.
A coach from AS Monaco's water polo section has been cleared following a complaint alleging harassment and violence against a minor. Monaco's Parquet général examined the case and concluded that the alleged offence was not sufficiently established to proceed, resulting in a classement sans suite, meaning the file is closed with no further legal action.
The decision brings to an end a period of scrutiny for the coach, who had been identified in connection with the allegations before the prosecutor's review. Following the outcome, he said he now wants to restore "his honour" after the complaint was made public.
The case had drawn attention within Monaco's sporting community given AS Monaco's profile across multiple disciplines, including water polo. No further details on the identity of the complainant or the specific circumstances behind the original complaint have been disclosed.
