AS Monaco to sign Troyes winger Mathys Detourbet, 19

By Laurent Duval, MonacoViews Editorial

AS Monaco are set to bring in France Under-20 winger Mathys Detourbet from Troyes on a loan deal routed through Manchester City's City Group.

AS Monaco have moved to secure one of Ligue 2's standout young talents, with 19-year-old winger Mathys Detourbet set to join the club on loan for the 2026-27 season. The deal carries an unusual structure: Detourbet will first transfer to Manchester City, whose parent company City Group also owns Troyes, before being loaned to the Principality club.

Detourbet has just completed a Ligue 2 title-winning campaign with Troyes, earning recognition as a France Under-20 international in the process. For a player looking to make the step up to top-flight football, a move to Stade Louis II represents a credible and well-trodden path, with Monaco having built a reputation for developing young French talent into first-team regulars.

The City Group connection simplifies the paperwork but also places Detourbet within a broader network of clubs should he need further loan moves down the line. Monaco's sporting direction, however, will be hoping he settles quickly on the Côte d'Azur and makes the loan arrangement look straightforward from day one.
