A 3-2 victory at Anfield on Sunday gave AS Monaco a significant confidence boost ahead of what promises to be a demanding start to the competitive season. The result was far from comfortable: Filipe Luis's side found themselves two goals down inside the first half-hour before staging a full comeback to take the win in what is one of European football's most testing pre-season environments.

The timing matters. Sunday's result will lift spirits at the Stade Louis II camp, but Filipe Luis has made plain that the work is not done.
