Kimi Antonelli claimed victory at the 83rd Monaco Grand Prix and was honoured at the Automobile Club de Monaco gala on Sunday evening.
Kimi Antonelli took the chequered flag at the 83rd Monaco Grand Prix, cementing a landmark moment in the young Italian's career and drawing an emotional response from Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, who described his driver as having become a true adult in the sport.
The pair shared the stage at the Salle des Etoiles during the Automobile Club de Monaco's post-race gala on Sunday evening, where Wolff spoke openly about his pride in Antonelli, whom he has long mentored. The Mercedes boss, who has guided Antonelli since his junior career, called the Monaco win a defining moment and described the driver as something of a second son.
For Antonelli, victory on the streets of the Principality carries particular weight. The Circuit de Monaco remains the most demanding and storied venue on the Formula 1 calendar, and a win here places the 19-year-old in rare company for a driver in only his second season at the top level.
