Abandoned bag prompts bomb squad alert on Boulevard Albert-Ier

Police closed part of Boulevard Albert-Ier on Thursday evening after an abandoned bag triggered a bomb disposal response.
Traffic along Boulevard Albert-Ier was partially suspended from around 6.30pm on Thursday after an unattended bag was spotted on the seafront road. Officers from the GPSI, the Groupe de protection, de surveillance et d'intervention attached to the Sûreté publique de Monaco, were called in to assess and deal with the item.
The closure caused disruption during the evening rush on one of the principality's main thoroughfares, with vehicles diverted while the specialist team carried out its checks. The road was reopened once the GPSI confirmed there was no danger, bringing the brief but tense episode to a close.
