Place du Palais took on a ceremonial dimension this Tuesday lunchtime as delegations from 79 countries gathered for a formal military ceremony tied to the 81st General Assembly of the Conseil International du Sport Militaire, known internationally as CISM.
The assembly brings together military sports representatives from across the globe, and the choice of Monaco's most symbolic public space, in the shadow of the Prince's Palace, gave the occasion considerable weight. Few settings in the Principality carry the same ceremonial authority as the square that fronts the Palace, and it served as a fitting stage for an event of this international scale.
