Théâtre Princesse Grace

The Théâtre Princesse Grace holds a unique place in Monaco's cultural life as a theatre shaped by royal vision and personal commitment. The building originally opened in 1932 as the Théâtre des Beaux-Arts, combining cinema and stage performance in an elegant Art Deco design. It was Princess Grace herself who set about reinventing it as a dedicated theatre, overseeing a comprehensive transformation of the interior that she personally directed. The new theatre was inaugurated on 17 December 1981, named in her honour, and remains deeply associated with her legacy today. Its current president is Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, continuing the royal family's close connection to the venue. The theatre occupies a central position on 12 Avenue d'Ostende in the heart of Monte-Carlo, sharing an entrance with the adjacent Cinéma des Beaux-Arts. Its intimate programming philosophy embraces both celebrated French-language productions and newer voices, with each season offering a mix of classical theatre, contemporary drama, comedy and discovery. The 2025-2026 season features 28 productions including works by Florian Zeller and a celebrated staging of Racine's Bérénice by the Comédie-Française. The theatre also hosts philosophy workshops, artist encounters and readings alongside its main stage programme.
