Sporting Monte-Carlo

Sporting Monte-Carlo is Monaco's most celebrated entertainment and events complex, occupying a magnificent 5.5-hectare site on the Larvotto peninsula at the eastern edge of the Principality. Constructed between 1973 and 1974 by Groupe Pastor, the complex was renovated in 1999 and is owned by the Société des Bains de Mer. It is the home of some of the grandest social occasions on the European calendar, including the annual Monte-Carlo Red Cross Ball, the Rose Ball, and the legendary Monte-Carlo Summer Festival. The centrepiece of the complex is the Salle des Étoiles, a spectacular 950-seat concert hall with floor-to-ceiling windows and a retractable roof that opens to the night sky, allowing audiences to watch performances beneath the stars. Since its inauguration by Josephine Baker in 1974, the hall has hosted an extraordinary roll-call of international artists. Jimmy'z Monte-Carlo, the iconic nightclub beneath the complex, has been one of the most glamorous nightlife addresses in the world since its original opening in 1971, and continues to attract a discerning international crowd. The complex also houses Salle des Palmiers, an elegant ballroom with sea views, the Coya Monte-Carlo restaurant, and extensive outdoor terraces. The Monte-Carlo Summer Festival runs from July to August each year, drawing world-class performers to the Salle des Étoiles.
