Monte-Carlo Country Club

larvotto

The Monte-Carlo Country Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious tennis and sports clubs on the French Riviera, with roots stretching back to 1893 when Monaco's first lawn tennis courts were laid on the rooftops above the Hotel de Paris cellars. The club was inaugurated in its present form in February 1928 by Prince Louis II of Monaco, on a 3.5-hectare site in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin just 150 metres beyond Monaco's northeastern border, designed in an Art Deco style by architect Letrosne with terraced clay courts separated by borders of flowers and cypress trees. Today the club is home to the ATP Tour's Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, one of the most celebrated clay-court tournaments in world tennis, drawing the sport's top players each spring. Beyond the professional event, members enjoy access to 21 clay courts, a pool, fitness facilities, a restaurant and a range of sports programmes throughout the year. The setting, perched above the Riviera coastline with views stretching to the sea, is unmatched among European tennis clubs. Membership is highly sought after by Monaco's resident community and the international sporting set who spend the spring season on the Riviera.
