Auditorium Rainier III

The Auditorium Rainier III is Monaco's principal concert hall and the permanent home of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, one of the oldest musical institutions in the Principality with roots stretching back to 1856. Situated on Boulevard Louis II with views towards the Mediterranean, the 1,200-seat auditorium is valued for its warm acoustics and modern technical facilities, making it equally suited to full symphonic programmes, chamber concerts, piano recitals and choral works. The hall is named in honour of Prince Rainier III, whose patronage of the arts helped shape Monaco's cultural identity through the second half of the twentieth century. The Orchestre Philharmonique presents a rich annual season that ranges from large-scale romantic symphonies to intimate chamber concerts, family matinees and film screenings with live accompaniment. Recent and forthcoming programmes have featured conductors including Charles Dutoit and Kazuki Yamada, and soloists of the calibre of Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gil Shaham and Elisabeth Leonskaja. The venue also hosts visiting ensembles, recitalists and special events outside the core orchestral season.
